With decades of experience teaching theatre arts, creative writing and critical literacy in public school classrooms, Speaking Out brings the expertise and joy to meet the needs of your classroom.

Aligned with several state and national standards as well as SEL (Social Emotional Learning) skills, our residencies center story as a vehicle for questioning and transformation of ourselves and our communities.

Theatre, Storytelling and Creative Writing

Funded by the Minnesota Humanities Center and shaped by the wisdom of community elders, this curriculum focuses on Dakota and Anishinaabe Narratives as well as African American History in Minnesota.

Reconsidering Minnesota History

Created in collaboration with Environmental Justice Table, this new curriculum draws attention to environmental concerns throughout Minnesota.

Caring for Our Environment

Speaking Out Teaching Artists collaborate with students to develop a story and script, make puppets, film scenes, record music and premiere a video.

Create a Puppet Video

Students learn skills in mental health advocacy, early childhood development, and performance techniques for very young audiences as they rehearse and perform 30-minute interactive puppet shows for local preschool and kindergarten classes.
